NORTH TONAWANDA — Police arrested a suspect in connection with an armed robbery that occurred early Saturday morning in the area of Oliver Street and Center Avenue.
Officers responded to the robbery report at approximately 3:55 a.m. on Aug. 16.
The suspect had fled the scene before police arrived.
At approximately 5:55 a.m., officers from the midnight patrol shift located and arrested the suspect without incident.
Police identified the suspect as Stephen Yaksich.
Yaksich was charged with robbery in the first degree, a Class B felony.
He also faces two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, both Class D felonies.
Additionally, Yaksich was charged with two counts of menacing in the second degree, both Class A misdemeanors.
Yaksich was arraigned in North Tonawanda City Court and remanded to the Niagara County Jail.
