Fugitive task force arrests Providence man on robbery, firearm charges

PROVIDENCE — Members of the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Jose Rivera, age 19, of 629 Chalkstone Avenue 3rd Floor, Providence, Rhode Island, on Friday at approximately 7:30 a.m.

Rivera was arrested on an affidavit and arrest warrant from the Cranston Police Department for first-degree robbery and larceny of a firearm.

The arrest was the result of an investigation by the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force.

Rivera was taken into custody without incident, processed and turned over to members of the Providence Police Department on scene.

In a separate case Friday, the ACI Investigations Unit charged Fernando Jesurum, age 38, with last known address of 117 Spencer Avenue, Chelsea, Massachusetts, for possession of controlled substance 10 grams or less.

The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Adult Correctional Institution Special Investigations Unit and the ACI Investigations Unit.

Jesurum was arraigned at Third Division District Court where he was presented as a Superior Court violator, granted $1,000 surety bail, and remanded to the ACI.
