MONTGOMERY — Troopers out of State Police Montgomery responded to a one-car motor vehicle collision on State Route 416 in the village of Montgomery on Aug. 15 at approximately 8:45 p.m.
Investigation by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at SP Montgomery revealed that a 2016 Honda was traveling westbound on State Route 416 at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a right hand turn through a yield sign onto Union Street.
The vehicle subsequently struck several trees off the west shoulder.
The operator and sole occupant of the vehicle was later identified as Ryan D. Tucker, age 32, of Bloomingburg, N.Y.
Tucker was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The State Police were assisted by the Village of Montgomery Police Department, Town of Montgomery Police Department, Village of Goshen Police Department, Montgomery Fire Department, and Montgomery EMS.
The investigation is ongoing.
