Homer man arrested for driving on park grass, causing damage

HOMER — A 21-year-old man was arrested Aug. 14 on charges he drove his vehicle onto the grass at Durkee Park, causing damage to the lawn area.

Anthony M. Ruiz of Cayuta was charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor, and a village traffic violation for improper use of roadways.

The incident was initially reported to Homer police on July 16 by village Department of Public Works employees.

Security video at the park recorded the incident, which led investigators to a vehicle registered to Ruiz, who previously had a Whitesboro address.

Ruiz was arrested at 43 ½ James St. at approximately 12:45 p.m. Aug. 14.

He was processed and released Aug. 15 with appearance tickets for Town of Homer Court on Sept. 2 at 5 p.m.

The Village of Whitesboro Police Department assisted with the investigation.
