NICHOLS — The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office arrested Timothy Cole, age 44, of Nichols, on Aug. 2 for a bench warrant issued out of the Town of Nichols.

The warrant resulted from Cole’s failure to appear on July 24 for charges of grand larceny in the second degree, a felony, and criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor.

In a separate incident on Aug. 4, the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office arrested Robert J. Morton, age 45, of Ithaca, following a traffic stop on State Route 17C in the Town of Barton.

Following an investigation, Morton was found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine.

Morton was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, possession of .5 ounces or more of methamphetamine, a Class C felony, and other violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Morton was arraigned in CAP Court and released on his own recognizance pending further court proceedings.
