Victory man arrested on felony contempt charge

VICTORY — A 28-year-old man was arrested Aug. 7 on a felony charge of criminal contempt in the first degree.

John R. Burns of Victory was taken into custody at 10:27 a.m. by deputies from the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, according to Sheriff Brian Schenck.

Deputies responded to an address in Victory at approximately 9:45 a.m. for a reported domestic incident between two parties.

During the investigation, deputies discovered that the victim had an order of protection against Burns.

It was determined that Burns violated the order of protection, leading to the felony charge under New York State Penal Law 215.51.(b).

Burns was transported to Cayuga County Jail where he was arraigned at centralized arraignment court and remanded without bail.
