Springfield police arrest man after recovering ghost gun from vehicle

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield police officers seized a ghost gun and arrested 19-year-old Ethan Alicea on Tuesday.

The arrest occurred at approximately 5 p.m. on Aug. 12 after officers observed a vehicle that was uninsured and did not have a license plate that matched the vehicle at a gas station on the 600 block of Carew Street.

Officers waited for the driver, later identified as Alicea, to return to the car.

As officers prepared to tow the vehicle, they observed two rounds of ammunition in the car.

Officers then recovered a ghost gun loaded with ten rounds of ammunition in the vehicle.

Alicea was placed under arrest.

The Springfield resident is charged with possession of a firearm without an FID card, possession of ammunition without an FID card, 3-D printers to manufacture firearms, uninsured motor vehicle and number plate violation to conceal ID.
