Pedestrian killed in garbage truck worker accident in Granby

GRANBY — New York State Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on County Route 14 in the town of Granby at approximately 4:21 p.m. Aug. 11.

A preliminary investigation determined that a Butler Disposal garbage truck was stopped with its hazard lights activated, facing southbound on the west shoulder of the roadway.

A Butler employee, Alexander M. Snow, age 32, of Phoenix, had been on the east side of the roadway and was crossing west to return to the truck with a rolling container when he was struck by a southbound 2013 Chevrolet Cruze operated by Kyle J. Parker, age 31, of Baldwinsville.

Parker remained at the scene and attempted life-saving measures until emergency responders arrived.

Snow was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
