BATH — Members of the Village of Bath Police Department were dispatched to a car vs. utility pole motor vehicle accident at the intersection of West Washington Street and West Morris Street on Aug. 10 at approximately 9 p.m.

It was determined that the vehicle had attempted to take a left turn, traveling southeast on West Morris Street through the intersection to travel east on West Washington Street, when it failed to negotiate the turn and hit the utility pole.

The operator of the vehicle was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

A dog in the vehicle sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash.

The operator, identified as Courtney L. Clark, age 43, of Bath, was suspected to be under the influence of alcoholic beverages.

An investigation ensued and Clark was ultimately taken into custody and charged with driving while intoxicated operating a motor vehicle with .08% BAC or more, a misdemeanor.

Clark was also charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and moving from lane unsafely, a violation.

Clark was released on an appearance ticket and is due in Bath Village Court at a later date.
