SOMERSWORTH — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a head-on collision Saturday night on Salmon Falls Road near the intersection of Maloney Street.
The crash occurred at approximately 11:06 p.m. in the westbound lane of travel, according to Somersworth police.
A 2025 Honda CMX500 motorcycle and a 2006 Honda Civic sedan were involved in the collision.
The motorcycle operator, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to Wentworth Douglass Hospital and later transferred to Massachusetts.
The Honda Civic operator was uninjured but was arrested on a felony charge of driving while intoxicated.
Police identified the Honda Civic operator as Connor J. Contella, 20, of Berwick, Maine.
Contella was held on preventative detention at the Strafford County Department of Corrections pending his arraignment Monday.
The Strafford County Regional Accident Reconstruction Team conducted the technical crash investigation.
Police are withholding the victim’s name pending notification of family members.
The case remains under investigation.
