BATH — A Bath man was arrested Friday evening after police responded to a report of suspected drug use at Pulteney Square Park.
James F. Blankenship, 37, was taken into custody at approximately 6:30 p.m. Aug. 8 after a complainant called Steuben County 911 to report a male possibly smoking drugs in the park.
A Village of Bath Police Department officer responded to the location and located Blankenship, who matched the description of the suspect.
An investigation found Blankenship was in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine and a burnt glass smoking device commonly used for smoking methamphetamine, police said.
Blankenship was transported to Bath Police Department for processing.
He is charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a Class A misdemeanor.
Blankenship was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Bath Village Court at a later date.
