Batavia police make multiple arrests on charges ranging from DWI to weapon possession

BATAVIA — Police made multiple arrests over a recent 10-day period on charges including driving while intoxicated, weapon possession and larceny.

Preston S. Daigler, 27, of Batavia, was arrested Aug. 7 for criminal mischief in the third degree.

Police allege Daigler threw a brick through a car window during an altercation on East Main Street.

Shane H. Zimblis, 54, of Batavia, was arrested Aug. 5 for criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, menacing in the second degree, aggravated family offense and unlawful imprisonment in the first degree.

Police allege Zimblis threatened another person with a knife during an altercation on Hutchins Street.

He was arraigned in Batavia City Court.

Jill M. Turner, 43, of Batavia, was arrested July 30 for criminal contempt in the first degree.

Police allege Turner almost struck another person with her car and yelled at the victim, in violation of an order of protection.

Turner was arraigned in CAP Court.

David N. Hanna, 49, of Batavia, was arrested Aug. 6 for DWI.

Hanna was charged after police responded to a citizen complaint of an intoxicated driver on Pearl Street.

He was issued appearance tickets and is due in court Aug. 26.

Pietro Russo, 50, of Batavia, was arrested Aug. 4 for assault in the third degree.

Police allege Russo injured another person by punching the victim several times during an altercation on Holland Avenue.

He was arraigned in CAP Court and is due in Batavia City Court at a later date.

Samuel J. Hernandez, 23, of Batavia, was arrested Aug. 6 on two warrants for petit larceny and criminal mischief in the fourth degree.

When Batavia Police located Hernandez on East Main Street and attempted to take him into custody, he allegedly resisted arrest.

He was additionally charged with obstructing governmental administration in the second degree and resisting arrest.

He was arraigned in CAP Court.

Kaheem T. Phillips, 25, of Greece, was arrested July 31 on a warrant.

Phillips was issued a misdemeanor traffic ticket in August 2023, and the warrant was issued when he failed to appear in court.

He was arraigned in Batavia City Court and released.

Brandon M. Weig, 37, of Batavia, was arrested Aug. 2 on charges from four separate criminal cases.

Weig was charged with petit larceny for allegedly stealing items out of a vehicle on Porter Avenue.

He was charged with another count of petit larceny for allegedly stealing merchandise from Quicklee’s.

He was charged with criminal trespass in the third degree after allegedly entering a fenced-in yard on Dellinger Avenue.

He was also arrested on a bench warrant after allegedly failing to appear in court on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration in the second degree.

He was arraigned in CAP Court and remanded to the Genesee County Jail.

Eddie L. Miles, 53, of Batavia, and Zakara R. Jackson, 21, of Batavia, were arrested Aug. 3 for petit larceny.

Police allege Miles and Jackson stole merchandise from Kwik Fill on Jackson Street.

Both were issued appearance tickets and released.

Mark L. Farley, 56, of Batavia, was arrested Aug. 1 for criminal mischief in the fourth degree.

Police allege Farley damaged another person’s phone during an altercation on Harvester Avenue.

He was issued an appearance ticket and is due in court Aug. 12.

Ronald O. McBride, 35, of Brinson, Georgia, was arrested Aug. 2 for DWI.

McBride was arrested following a traffic stop on West Main Street.

He was issued several traffic tickets and released.

Jarrod K. Fotiathis, 30, of Batavia, was arrested Aug. 3 for menacing in the third degree and harassment in the second degree.
