FENNER — An Oneida woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Oxbow Road and East Mile Strip Road on Thursday morning.
State Police said they responded to the report at approximately 11:20 a.m. on August 28.
The preliminary investigation determined that Barbara R. Thurston, 82, was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox westbound on East Mile Strip Road when she failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign.
Officials said Thurston attempted to cross the intersection onto West Mile Strip Road when her vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by a northbound 2019 Freightliner box truck.
The truck was operated by Guillermo Y. Melchor Hernandez, 22, of West Winfield, who was traveling on Oxbow Road.
Thurston, the sole occupant of the Equinox, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Melchor Hernandez and his passenger were not injured.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
