Old Town police arrest man after 6-hour standoff

OLD TOWN — Old Town police arrested a 23-year-old man Sunday morning following a six-hour standoff that shut down part of Stillwater Avenue.

Police received a report of a disorderly incident at 812 Stillwater Avenue at approximately 4:17 a.m. Aug. 10.

Officers arrived at 4:19 a.m. and began investigating.

During their inquiry, officers learned that a threat had been made and that the suspect had left the immediate area.

Police established a perimeter around the residence where they suspected the individual to be and blocked off a portion of Stillwater Avenue.

Old Town police prepared a warrant, which was executed by the Maine State Police Tactical Team.

The suspect, Christopher Campbell, 23, of Old Town, was located inside the residence at approximately 10:15 a.m. and taken into custody.

Campbell was charged with criminal threatening, terrorizing, criminal mischief, and creating a police standoff.
