BOSTON — A 16-year-old male was arrested Saturday on firearm charges after police found him with a loaded weapon in Dorchester.
Officers assigned to District B-3 responded to a radio call at 2:45 p.m. in the area of Woodrow Avenue and Willowwood Street to investigate a group of juveniles entering a driveway.
The group was described as wearing hoodies with masks over their faces.
Upon arrival, officers parked at 166 Woodrow Avenue and observed individuals matching the description.
The group immediately noticed the officers’ presence and attempted to flee down a side pathway.
An officer positioned on the other side of the pathway forced the group back toward the cruiser.
Two individuals were stopped by officers, while a third was seen running from the driveway holding his front pocket with his left hand.
A foot pursuit ensued, but officers quickly gained control of the suspect.
During a pat frisk, officers recovered a firearm from his front hooded sweatshirt pocket.
Officers determined that a 15-year-old juvenile male among the other two stopped individuals had an active warrant for his arrest.
B-3 Detectives responded to the scene and determined the firearm was an HK P2000SK with one round in the chamber and nine rounds in the magazine.
The firearm’s serial number was obliterated.
The 16-year-old was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on charges including possession of a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, possession of a loaded firearm, defacement of a firearm serial number and trespassing.
