SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Police Superintendent Lawrence E. Akers publicly recognized Detectives Selenia Cruz, Denise Toledo and Officer Matthew Truex for their efforts in locating a missing woman.
The incident occurred in May when a 51-year-old woman was separated from her group of friends at MGM Springfield.
Officer Matthew Truex, assigned to the Gaming Enforcement Unit, took the initial report and reviewed video footage showing the woman leaving the casino alone in the early morning hours.
Detectives Cruz and Toledo were assigned the case and located the woman unharmed later that day.
A Feeding Hills resident wrote a letter to Akers praising the officers for their persistence and investigative skills.
The letter stated the officers’ efforts led to the woman’s safe return to her friends.
