Shots fired in Middletown investigated by police

MIDDLETOWN — The City of Middletown Police Department is investigating a shots-fired incident near East Main Street and Railroad Avenue early Sunday.

At approximately 2:05 a.m. on Aug. 3, an on-duty New York State Trooper in a marked vehicle reported hearing multiple gunshots in the area.

Middletown police and troopers responded immediately, searching for victims, suspects and evidence.

No injuries were reported, but shell casings and a projectile that struck a parked vehicle were found near Railroad Avenue and Beattie Avenue.

The investigation is ongoing.
