MIDDLETOWN — A man was arrested after falsely reporting an armed robbery and shooting in Middletown last month.

The City of Middletown Police Department took over the investigation after the Town of Wallkill Police Department reported the incident on July 23.

Terry Williamson, 39, of Deerpark, claimed he was robbed at gunpoint while walking his dog near 216 Phillips St.

Williamson arrived at Garnet Health Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Detectives found inconsistencies in his account and surveillance footage showed no evidence of a robbery on Phillips St.

Video from a Wendy’s in Wallkill captured a muzzle flash inside Williamson’s vehicle around 11:05 p.m. on July 22.

He left without ordering food and later sought medical treatment.

A search warrant was executed, and Williamson was arrested on Aug. 7 after a traffic stop in Deerpark.

He was found with a loaded .22 revolver, which he was prohibited from possessing as a convicted felon on parole.

Williamson faces charges including criminal possession of a weapon and will be extradited to Pennsylvania for a parole violation.
