Dorchester man arrested after breaking into cellphone store

BOSTON — Officers arrested a man early Wednesday after he allegedly broke into a Dorchester cellphone store and stole merchandise.

At about 3 a.m., officers responded to 1514 Dorchester Ave. for a commercial alarm at a Cricket Wireless store.

The front entrance door was shattered, and a brick was found inside.

A safe had been opened.

About 3:25 a.m., officers spotted a man pushing a shopping cart with a large box on Centervale Street.

The box contained 25 new Cricket Wireless cell phones, a smartwatch, earphones and two karaoke speakers.

Officers recovered a screwdriver, flashlight, pry bar, utility screwdriver, pocket knife, two portable speakers and about $469 in cash from the suspect.

Jose Davila, 56, of Dorchester, was arrested and will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of breaking and entering, possession of burglarious instruments and larceny from a building.
