Hyannis drug bust nets over half-kilo of cocaine, 2 men held

HYANNIS — Two men were held without bail following their arraignment on cocaine trafficking charges after a drug bust that netted over half a kilogram of suspected cocaine.

Ilya Zinov, 36, of Hyannis, and Jermaine Dudley, 33, of New Bedford, were arraigned in Barnstable District Court on charges of trafficking in cocaine, 200+ grams.

On Aug. 5, during evening hours, a Massachusetts State Police trooper conducted surveillance on Dudley from New Bedford to an address in Hyannis.

Barnstable Police detectives joined the surveillance and investigation when Dudley arrived in Hyannis.

Dudley and Zinov were observed engaging in a quick meeting in a vehicle in a parking lot in Hyannis that the investigating trooper determined was a narcotics exchange based on experience.

The trooper approached both men and recovered over half a kilogram of suspected cocaine and a large sum of currency.

Both men were arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine, 200+ grams.

Search warrants for addresses associated with Zinov were issued by the Falmouth and Barnstable District Courts.

Members of the Massachusetts State Police, State Police detectives assigned to the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office, Barnstable Police Department detectives and K-9 Unit, Crime Scene Services, MSP K-9 Unit, and the Cape Cod DEA Task Force executed the search warrants.

Zinov is currently on probation for aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon out of Barnstable Superior Court.

The Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office filed a motion to hold both men without bail as dangers to the community.

Both defendants were held in custody for a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Friday.

All defendants are presumed innocent.
