TUPPER LAKE — New York State Police arrested a 28-year-old Tupper Lake man for aggravated driving while intoxicated on Aug. 2.

Hunter M. Savage was taken into custody following a property damage accident on Old Wawbeek Road at approximately 1 a.m.

Troopers determined Savage was operating a black 2017 Dodge Ram southbound on Old Wawbeek Road when he lost control while swerving to avoid a deer.

The vehicle exited the roadway and came to rest on its passenger side in the east side ditch.

During the investigation, troopers observed signs of impairment and administered the Standardized Field Sobriety Test, which Savage failed.

He was transported to SP Tupper Lake, where a breath sample indicated a blood alcohol concentration of 0.28%.

Savage was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Town of Tupper Lake Court later in August.
