Pleasant Valley traffic stop yields drugs, cash seizure

PLEASANT VALLEY — New York State Police arrested a Brandon man on drug charges following a traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway on Aug. 3.

Maynard Davis, 48, was pulled over at approximately 9:18 p.m. while driving a Chevrolet Impala northbound in the town of Pleasant Valley for multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

Davis was accompanied by a female passenger also from Vermont.

During the stop, State Police K9 Jet conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle and alerted officers to the presence of narcotics.

A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle led to the seizure of $27,860 in cash.

A search of Davis also uncovered approximately 72 grams of crack cocaine.

The traffic stop was conducted by members of the New York State Police Troop K Community Stabilization Unit.

Davis was arraigned in the Town of Stanford Court and subsequently remanded to the Dutchess County Jail pending further proceedings.
