ELMIRA — Officers of the Elmira Police Department were dispatched to the area of W Clinton St and Grove St for a report of multiple gunshots at approximately 11:05 p.m. Aug. 4.
Dispatch had only received one call about this incident.
Officers arrived on scene finding that no one was in the area.
Officers began their investigation and located evidence of a shooting, including 7 spent shell casings.
Early investigation indicates that the shooter fled on foot after firing multiple rounds into a vehicle that was driving in the area.
