NEW HARTFORD — A 28-year-old man was arrested Monday after stealing a juvenile’s bicycle outside a convenience store, police said.
Kevin Warmack was charged with petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor, following the incident at Cliff’s Local Mart at 17 Genesee St.
A New Hartford Police investigator was conducting a follow-up investigation at the store around 12 p.m. when a juvenile male reported that a man had stolen his bicycle and was riding away.
The investigator pursued the suspect on foot along Genesee Street toward French Road in Utica.
New Hartford police officers and a second investigator located Warmack in the parking lot of Chanatry’s Market on French Road in Utica, along with the stolen bicycle.
Police recovered the bike and returned it to the juvenile.
Warmack was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charge in Town Court at a later date.
