WESTMORELAND — A Georgia man has been arrested on weapons charges following a menacing complaint, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.
On Aug. 4 at about 8:30 a.m., patrol deputies responded to a residence in the Town of Westmoreland regarding a menacing complaint.
During their investigation, deputies learned that 25-year-old Jordi Pena from Lawrenceville, Georgia, was in possession of an unregistered handgun which was not licensed in New York state.
Pena, who did not have a New York state pistol permit, was arrested and transported to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office in the Town of Whitestown.
Members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Unit became involved in the case.
Investigators charged Pena with one count of criminal possession of a firearm, a Class E felony.
Deputies also charged Pena with one count of illegal discharge of a firearm under the Environmental Conservation Law.
Pena was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to return to Westmoreland Town Court at a later date.
