SARATOGA — A 55-year-old Clifton Park man was arrested Saturday evening on felony DWI charges following a traffic stop on state Route 9P.

Derek A. Radz was taken into custody at 6:01 p.m. after an automated license plate reader indicated his vehicle had a suspended registration, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.

Radz faces charges of DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree, both class E felonies.

He is also charged with operating a motor vehicle without a court-ordered ignition interlock, a class A misdemeanor, suspended registration, an unclassified misdemeanor, and refusal to take a prescreen breath test at the request of a police officer, an infraction.

The DWI charge was elevated to a felony due to a previous conviction for DWI within the preceding 10 years, authorities said.

Radz is accused of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and at a time when his driver’s license was revoked for DWI.

He was released on appearance tickets pending further proceedings at the direction of Saratoga Town Court Judge Charles Sherman.

None of the charges filed are considered bail eligible under New York state law.
