Schenectady man arrested on child exploitation charges

PRINCETOWN — State Police arrested a 27-year-old Schenectady man Wednesday on charges related to child sexual exploitation.

Anthony O. Candelaria was charged with Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class D felony, and Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class E felony.

Candelaria is accused of promoting and possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation.

The arrest followed an investigation that stemmed from a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

State Police executed a search warrant at Candelaria’s residence in Schenectady on Wednesday.

Candelaria was located in Glenville and transported to State Police Princetown where he was arrested and processed.

He was then transported to the Schenectady County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.

State Police were assisted by the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
