MADISON — The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Division executed two drug search warrants Wednesday at approximately 1:30 p.m. in Madison.
One search warrant was executed at Simple Twist Cannabis Company on Lakewood Road.
The other search warrant was simultaneously executed at the residence of Daniel P. Safranec on East Madison Road.
The search warrants were obtained after an investigation revealed that Safranec was allegedly selling marijuana and cultivating marijuana illegally.
During the execution of the search warrants, over 2,120 pounds of processed marijuana, 159 flowering marijuana plants, a large amount of marijuana laced products, and over $1,800 in cash and records were located and seized.
Daniel P. Safranec, age 40, of Madison, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs (Class A) and Aggravated Cultivation of Marijuana (Class B).
The charges are aggravated due to the amounts of drugs seized and because Safranec has a prior federal felony level drug conviction.
On Thursday, Safranec posted $10,000 cash bail and was released from the Somerset County Jail.
Special conditions of Safranec’s bail include not using or possessing marijuana or marijuana products and not distributing marijuana or marijuana products.
Safranec’s initial appearance at the Somerset County Unified Criminal Court is scheduled for Nov. 5 at 8:30 a.m.
Additional criminal charges may be forthcoming once the case is reviewed by the Somerset County District Attorney’s Office.
