Yonkers man charged with grand larceny in Dutchess County church artwork case

POUGHKEEPSIE — A Yonkers man has been arrested on felony grand larceny charges after allegedly stealing more than $50,000 from a local church under false pretenses, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Fatjon Sulaj, 35, was arrested July 29 following a month-long investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau.

Authorities say Sulaj was hired to do artwork for a church but failed to complete the work after receiving payment.

Sulaj has been charged with second-degree grand larceny, a felony.

He was processed and released with an appearance ticket.

Sulaj is scheduled to appear before the Town of Hyde Park Court on Aug. 12 at 5 p.m.
