Utica man arrested on drug charges after traffic stop

UTICA — A 41-year-old Utica man was arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop on July 29.

Eric Warner was taken into custody at approximately 7:55 p.m. on the 1100 block of Brinckerhoff Avenue after Utica Police officers from the Crime Prevention Unit stopped his vehicle for New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

Officers discovered Warner was driving with a suspended New York State driver’s license.

A search of Warner’s person revealed numerous corner knotted baggies containing suspected cocaine and a large sum of cash, police said.

The suspected cocaine weighed nearly 80 grams.

Warner was transported to the Utica Police Department for processing.

He was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and vehicle and traffic law violations.

The Special Investigations Unit handled the charging process.
