SALAMANCA — The Salamanca Police Department is warning residents about scammers impersonating officers and requesting financial information over the phone.
The department said it has received reports of people using the police department’s phone numbers and identifying themselves as Salamanca police officers.
Police said they never contact people by phone to solicit financial information.
The department said it conducts all business in person.
Officials are advising residents who receive such calls to hang up immediately and report the incident to the Salamanca Police Department.
