WILLET — A 2-year-old child died after being struck by a vehicle on Landers Corners Road on July 27.
Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at approximately 7:19 p.m.
The Cortland County 911 Center received a report that a vehicle had struck a child in the roadway.
Through their investigation, officers determined that the vehicle, operated by a 76-year-old male, had struck the 2-year-old child in the roadway.
The child was transported to Wilson Hospital in Binghamton where he ultimately succumbed to injuries sustained from the crash.
The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Willet Fire Department, Marathon Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the New York State ENCON Police.
