Boston police arrest man with firearm in domestic violence case

BOSTON — Officers from District B-3 arrested a male suspect involving a firearm during a domestic violence call in Mattapan.

The Boston Police Department said domestic violence calls are among the most dangerous 911 calls officers encounter daily.

Police did not release additional details about the arrest or charges.

The department emphasized that no one deserves to be abused and encouraged people to seek help.

In emergencies, people should call 911.

Community members can report domestic violence cases anonymously by calling the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1-800-494-TIPS or texting “TIP” to CRIME (27463).

Police said they will protect the identities of those who help domestic violence victims anonymously.

Several domestic violence programs are available in the Boston area, including the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence, Association of Haitian Women in Boston, Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, Casa Myrna Vasquez and Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers.
