Woman charged with stabbing at Hadley boat launch

HADLEY — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 21-year-old woman on assault charges following a stabbing at Stewart’s Pond boat launch early Sunday morning.

Jenna M. Helenek of Northumberland was charged with first-degree assault, a class B felony, along with two counts of third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both class A misdemeanors.

Deputies responded to the assault call at 2:20 a.m. July 27.

Helenek is accused of stabbing one person in the chest with a knife, causing serious physical injury.

She also allegedly punched two other people in their facial areas and bit one person in the stomach, causing physical injuries.

The stabbing victim was transported to Glens Falls Hospital by private vehicle and later transferred by ambulance to Albany Medical Center for further treatment.

The other victims received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries at Glens Falls Hospital and Malta Med Emergent Care.

Helenek was arraigned before Judge Michael T. Woodcock in Corinth Town Court and remanded to Saratoga County Jail.

Her case will proceed in Hadley Town Court.
