Albany, NY teen charged after shots fired in Washington Park

ALBANY — A 16-year-old male has been charged in connection with a shots fired incident that occurred in Washington Park Saturday evening.

On July 26 around 5:45 p.m., on-duty Albany police officers inside the park reported hearing gunshots come from the eastern direction of the basketball courts.

As officers approached the area, they observed an individual fleeing the scene.

After a brief foot pursuit, the individual was taken into custody.

A search of the path traveled by the 16-year-old resulted in the recovery of a loaded revolver.

There were no injuries reported during this incident.

The 16-year-old whose name will not be released due to his age has been charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a weapon 2nd and one count of Reckless Endangerment 1st.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Facility.
