MARLBOROUGH — A man was arrested July 23 after police responded to a report of an intoxicated person with a shotgun at a Prospect Street residence.

The Marlborough Police Department received the call at approximately 9:40 p.m.

A family member told officers the subject was intoxicated and in possession of a loaded 12-gauge shotgun inside a barn on the property.

Police established a perimeter around the barn while attempting to make contact with the man.

The subject eventually exited the barn unarmed and was taken into custody without incident.

He was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree due to being a convicted felon who is not allowed to possess firearms.

Police executed a search warrant on the residence and located a second rifle inside the home.

The man was arraigned and released on his own recognizance due to bail reform laws, as the charge is not bail eligible.
