ROME — Rome police have arrested a city resident in connection with a shots fired incident that occurred on North James Street on the afternoon of July 15.
At approximately 3:12 p.m., officers from the Rome Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to reports of gunfire in the area of 510 North James Street.
Upon arrival, officers found a white passenger vehicle in a parking lot with visible damage consistent with being struck by a projectile fired from a firearm.
The Rome Police Detective Division continued to investigate the incident.
On July 22, Marquise S. Howard, 28, of Rome, was taken into custody in connection with the case.
Howard, a New York State parolee, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm.
Howard was processed and held for arraignment in Rome City Court.
A search warrant was executed on the same date, and the investigation involved the Rome Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit, Special Investigations Unit, Special Response Team, and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Special Investigations Unit, K9 Unit, and New York State Parole.
