LIMA — Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty announced the arrest of a Lima resident on felony criminal mischief charges after an incident was investigated by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

On July 20 at approximately 1:08 a.m., deputies responded to a residence on East Main Street in the Town of Lima following a report of a male individual causing damage to property inside an apartment.

Deputies arrived on scene and initiated an investigation.

Authorities allege that 23-year-old James Maggio intentionally damaged property both inside and outside the apartment.

Maggio was arrested by Deputy Evan Wolfanger and charged with felony criminal mischief in the third degree.

He was transported and turned over to central booking deputies at the Livingston County Jail for arrest processing and pre-arraignment detention.

Maggio was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part at the Livingston County Jail before the Town of North Dansville Justice Werth.

The judge released Maggio on his own recognizance, as the charges do not qualify for bail under the New York State bail reform act.

The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Maggio at the court arraignment.

The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office was present to represent the People.
