DELHI — The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of Brent Trimbell of Hobart in connection with an ongoing child sex abuse investigation.

On June 17, investigators with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division arrested Trimbell, 44, and charged him with first-degree rape, two counts of third-degree aggravated sexual abuse, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Following the initial arrest, Trimbell was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $300,000 cash bail or $600,000 secured bond.

Investigators say further examination revealed that Trimbell sent at least six pornographic videos or images, including videos of himself, to a child as part of a grooming process.

On July 23, investigators arrested Trimbell on six additional counts of disseminating indecent material to a minor, all classified as class D felonies.

The newest arrest occurred at the Delaware County Correctional Facility after Trimbell was released on bond for the earlier charges.

Trimbell was arraigned at Delaware County CAP Court before Town of Walton Justice Michael Rippa.

The District Attorney’s Office requested $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 secured bond for the new charges.

Justice Rippa set bail at $1.

The Public Defender’s Office posted the bail, and Trimbell was released from custody.

Sheriff Craig S. DuMond stated the investigation remains open and ongoing, and asked anyone with information regarding alleged crimes committed by Trimbell to contact the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.
