ALBION — Two missing juveniles were taken into custody Tuesday morning after Albion police officers recovered a stolen vehicle at the Hoag Library parking lot.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. on July 22, officers were alerted to the possible presence of a Ford F-150 Lightning reported stolen from the City of Canandaigua Department of Public Works.
Upon arrival, police located the truck at a charging station.
A 17-year-old female was found lying in the back seat and a 16-year-old male was in the driver’s seat.
Both juveniles were safely detained.
Officers recovered a Glock-style BB gun from the driver’s side area of the truck.
Authorities learned both juveniles had previously been reported missing by the Town of Greece Police Department.
The Orleans County Major Felony Crime Task Force and deputies from the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
The juveniles were transported to the Albion Police Department for processing.
Police charged both with criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree.
Appearance tickets were issued for the Orleans County Youth Court.
The male juvenile also received a traffic citation for operating the vehicle with a DJ permit and without a licensed passenger.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office was notified that the stolen vehicle had been located and that the juveniles were in custody.
Albion police coordinated the safe transfer of the juveniles to Ontario County deputies for additional charges.
The stolen truck was recovered by the City of Canandaigua.
