BOSTON — Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested two 18-year-old men Wednesday night and recovered two loaded firearms following a firearm investigation in Roxbury.
Jamauri Chambers of Roxbury and Antonio Vick of Dorchester were arrested on various firearm charges at about 10:23 p.m. in the area of 18 Argyle Street.
Officers had been conducting surveillance throughout the evening and observed multiple individuals entering and exiting the building with their heads down.
The individuals were wearing hooded sweatshirts and pants that were inconsistent with the hot weather, police said.
The suspects would leave the area multiple times on scooters from the side yard of the building and travel toward Talbot Avenue.
The scooters were not registered and the operators were not wearing helmets, according to police.
Officers developed a plan to stop the scooters when they returned to the suspected address.
When the scooters returned, officers boxed them in with their cruisers.
The suspects immediately dropped the scooters and began to run.
One suspect was stopped and a violent struggle ensued as he swung his arms and refused to put his hands behind his back.
During the struggle, officers saw a firearm fall to the ground.
The suspect refused multiple commands to stop resisting and multiple officers were needed to place him in handcuffs.
The second suspect was also quickly stopped and struggled with officers.
He was seen reaching for his waistband and attempted to break free from officers.
A firearm was recovered from his waistband after he was placed in handcuffs.
While handcuffed, he continued to resist by trying to kick and pull away from officers.
The firearm recovered from Chambers was a Smith & Wesson SW40VE with 21 rounds in an extended magazine and an obliterated serial number.
The firearm recovered from Vick was a Smith & Wesson MP40 with one round in the chamber and five rounds in the magazine.
Both scooters were towed from the scene, and one was determined to have been reported stolen.
Vick is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of carrying a firearm without a license third offense, firearm violation with one prior violent crime, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm without a license and resisting arrest.
Chambers faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a large capacity feeding device, carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and resisting arrest.
