WAWAYANDA — A 57-year-old Montgomery man was arrested July 20 after leading state police on a brief pursuit and allegedly throwing cocaine from his vehicle.
Robert M. Flynn was driving a 2005 GMC Yukon eastbound on Interstate 84 in Wawayanda at approximately 4:04 p.m. when New York State Police troopers from Greenville observed multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.
Troopers attempted a traffic stop, but Flynn failed to comply, resulting in a brief pursuit.
The vehicle eventually stopped on Schutt Road in Wallkill.
Flynn was taken into custody without incident.
During the investigation, troopers recovered an object that had been thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit.
The object contained approximately .8 grams of cocaine.
Flynn was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 5th degree, a class D felony; tampering with physical evidence, a class E felony; obstructing governmental administration in the 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor; unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the 3rd degree, a class A misdemeanor; and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.
Flynn was processed at State Police barracks and released with an appearance ticket.
He is scheduled to appear in Wawayanda Town Court on Aug. 14 at 3:00 p.m.
