SPRING VALLEY — A 20-year-old Spring Valley resident was arrested Tuesday in connection with a shooting that occurred July 19 at 60 E. Eckerson Rd.
Anderson J. Alvarado-Jimenez was taken into custody after an investigation revealed he discharged a .22 caliber revolver multiple times at approximately 9:51 p.m., striking a parked vehicle.
Police said Alvarado-Jimenez left the scene and returned a short time later with an assault rifle.
He then shot the parked vehicle 20 more times, causing extensive damage, according to police.
Two bullets entered nearby apartments where children were playing, but no one was injured.
The New York State Police Under Water Recovery Team recovered the firearms used in the incident in the Town of Haverstraw.
Alvarado-Jimenez was charged with criminal use of a firearm in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, reckless endangerment in the first degree, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, tampering with physical evidence and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
He was held pending arraignment.
