MALTA — State Police arrested Anthony Dambrosi, 24, of Nassau on multiple charges including assault in the third degree, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, two counts of criminal mischief in the fourth degree, and two counts of criminal obstruction of breathing.

Troopers responded to a home in Malta at about 1:06 a.m. July 15 for reports of a past disturbance.

The investigation determined that at about 11 p.m. July 14, Dambrosi and the victim reportedly engaged in an argument that escalated.

During the altercation, Dambrosi allegedly held the victim against their will, obstructed their breathing multiple times and struck their head against the ground, causing injury.

When the victim attempted to call 911 for help, Dambrosi reportedly took their phone away and intentionally damaged it.

Dambrosi then fled the scene when the victim began yelling for help.

Dambrosi was located and arrested at his Nassau home and transported to State Police Saratoga for processing.

He was arraigned at Malta Town Court where he was released on his own recognizance.
