Flushing man indicted on child rape charges in Warwick

GOSHEN — Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that Arnaldo Gil, age 38, of Flushing, was arraigned Monday on an indictment charging him with rape in the second degree, rape in the third degree, endangering the welfare of a child and sexual abuse in the third degree.

Gil is accused of repeatedly having sexual intercourse with a child in the Town of Warwick.

Gil was remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail, or $250,000 fully secured bond, or $500,000 partially secured bond.

He is next scheduled in court for a conference on Aug. 13.

According to documents filed and statements made in court, Gil began having conversations with a 13-year-old girl who lived in the Town of Warwick during the summer of 2022 after meeting her through a video game.

Beginning in November 2022, Gil allegedly would drive to Orange County to pick the child up at her high school and bring her to various locations in the Town of Warwick, where he would subject the child to sexual contact.

From January 2023 through January 2025, he allegedly would repeatedly have sexual intercourse with the minor, at times in Airbnb rentals he paid for in the Town of Warwick.

The case is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Nicholas Mangold.
