Fair Haven man arrested on domestic assault, burglary charges

FAIR HAVEN — Police arrested a 35-year-old man July 18 on charges including second-degree aggravated domestic assault, violation of conditions of release and burglary following a domestic dispute.

Carl J. Stockwell of Fair Haven was taken into custody after police responded to a reported domestic dispute on West Park Place Street at 11:25 p.m.

Through investigation, police learned Stockwell allegedly got into a physical altercation with another person, causing injury.

The victim reported Stockwell had entered the home without permission.

Stockwell fled the scene when police arrived.

Stockwell had been placed on conditions of release earlier July 18 by Judge John Valente, ordering him to have no contact with the victim for a domestic assault that occurred earlier in the day.

Police located Stockwell a short time later on South Park Place.

Stockwell was arrested and lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Center.

Stockwell was ordered held without bail.

The investigating officers were Sgt. Dale Kerber and Ptl. Shane Carvey, with assistance from the Castleton Police Department and the Rutland County Sheriff’s Office.
