Lanesborough police arrest 3 suspects in separate violent incidents

LANESBOROUGH — The Lanesborough Police Department arrested three suspects in separate violent incidents over a three-day period, including a double stabbing that sent two victims to the hospital.

On July 16 at 12:38 p.m., police responded to an assault in progress on Route 8.

The victim reported the suspect assaulted them while attempting to take money from the victim.

A 22-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with assault and battery and attempt to commit a crime robbery.

Later that day at 11:40 p.m., police responded to a domestic incident on Cheshire Road.

The victim reported the suspect threw an object at them causing a minor injury and then choked the victim.

A 19-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with assault and battery household member, strangulation, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

On July 18 at 8:13 p.m., police responded to Scott Road for a reported stabbing.

Upon arrival, police determined the suspect had stabbed two other adults, one in the upper torso and the other in the chest.

Both victims were transported to Berkshire Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Police said the stabbing was an unprovoked attack and occurred in the presence of several young children.

A 47-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, reckless endangerment of a child, assault to murder – armed and assault causing serious bodily injury.

Police Chief Robert Derksen said two of the incidents occurred while only one patrol officer was working.
