ROWLEY — A 25-year-old Newburyport woman died Friday afternoon after the car she was driving crashed into a tree on Main Street.
Natalie Munoz was found unresponsive in a 2013 Ford sedan after the 2:11 p.m. crash near Warehouse Lane, according to Rowley Police Chief Stephen May.
Emergency personnel treated Munoz at the scene before transporting her to Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport, where she was pronounced dead.
A 27-year-old female passenger from Newburyport was also taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries before being released.
Police said the Ford was traveling north on Main Street, also known as Route 1A, when it failed to negotiate a turn near Warehouse Lane.
The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, sustaining heavy front-end damage.
The Rowley Police Department is investigating the crash with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Collision and Reconstruction Section.
Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Section, Ipswich Police and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation also responded to the scene.
