Motorcyclist airlifted after head-on crash in Cambria

CAMBRIA — A 60-year-old motorcyclist was airlifted to Erie County Medical Center with life-threatening injuries after a head-on collision with an SUV Sunday afternoon on Campbell Boulevard.

Deputy M. Pegan discovered the crash at 4:55 p.m. while on patrol in the town of Cambria.

The motorcyclist was found in the middle of the road with serious injuries after being ejected from his motorcycle.

Deputies immediately began providing medical aid until emergency medical services arrived.

A preliminary investigation showed the motorcycle was traveling southbound on Campbell Boulevard when it crossed into the oncoming northbound lane and struck the northbound SUV head-on.

The SUV was operated by a 38-year-old woman who was transported by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center for minor injuries.

Mercy Flight airlifted the motorcyclist to the hospital.

The names of those involved are being withheld.

The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
