WESTPORT — The Westport Police Department assisted the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit – New Bedford Team & Brockton Team, along with the MSP STOP Team and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in executing a search warrant on Conserve Avenue on July 17.
Following a long-term investigation by MSP, a firearm-related search warrant was sought and received from the Fall River District Court.
The target of the investigation was identified as Anthony Tropeano.
At approximately 4:57 a.m., the MSP STOP Team executed the search warrant.
Tropeano was present at the time of the execution.
Investigators subsequently recovered a Taurus .44 Special revolver with 60 rounds of ammunition.
Tropeano was taken into custody and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
